No question about it. . . seemed to build up to this point for the past month plus. . . teetered on that point of will it - won't it. Then simply fell off the wagon and started pouring. Great way to end the summer. Send the kids to school and enjoy the rain. Oh well, I'm sure it helps to keep the tradition student whining to a minimum. . . if it's not nice outside, what else is there to do? May as well go to school.
Troy, Jori, and Javyn had a good time in Philadelphia. Sounds like the kids had some pretty cool adventures. You want details? Yeah. . well. . so do I. & where are the pics? Excellent question. I've been assured many have been taken, I guess it's up to me to locate the camera and took a look myself.
I enjoyed my time in Chanute and did quite a few misc. things around the house - and not around the house. Spent a wee-bit at Marion Lake one day, visited our local Martin & Osa museum, went out for lunch a couple times. Did I mention that my friend since kindergarten, Joyce, was part of my actual - 'get-out-of-the-house-and-see-the-world activities? THANKS JOYCE! We had a great time - entirely too short!
I also must share that the week ended in a crash - though not heard by human ears. We have a basement. In that basement are these shelves. On those shelves are such things as pots and pans and cake plates and pitchers and deviled egg trays and vases and. . . well, you get the idea. The shelves finally had simply had enough of it's burden and the entire thing collapsed. All four 6' long shelves just pulled off the wall and folded onto itself, and it's occupants, onto the cement floor. Sad day. I never knew a crockpost could simply be crushed like a pancake. Many things were unrecognizable and many things escaped without a scratch. But what a mess!
We swept and threw out the 'victims'; stacked up the 'survivors' and went on about our weekend plans - driving out to Leoti, KS Saturday morning to help celebrate the 60th Wedding Anniversary of Troy's folks. WOW! 60 years. Nearly all of the family (25 were there) converged upon The Farm within a 3-4 day time period so the celebration turned into a sort of family reunion. Was a long drive (7 hours) and short stay (2 nights) - but quite worth it! Was a great time to re-connect and celebrate.
Wednesday found Javyn back to the daily grind of s-c-h-o-o-l. sigh. . . . .Summer is officially over. So on to the next chapter - a freshman in high school! Currently, we're having to adjust to 7 a.m. band practice on school days which simply seems entirely too early. Thank goodness he's not in football! They're are having practicing 5:45 to 7:45 every morning then for 3-4 more hours every evening. WOW!
Some of his classes include Honors Geometry and English, Mandarin Chinese, Science, Band, Physical Education. . . .enough to really exercise that brain!
Oh, Javyn's 14th Birthday is next week on the 25th. Send him a shout - out using my e-mail address (if you don't have his). Just type 'Javyn' in the subject line. I'll make sure he gets it!
Jori starts back to class as a college sophomore on Thursday. So many plans for the summer - some fun, some not-so-much, and so little time to do them within the last few days of freedom! Jori's roommate has moved into the apartment for the school year and they are off to a good start. I know Jori will miss all of her free time and alone time - but she'll adjust quickly to the point where she'll miss having every minute of her day scheduled once summer rolls around again.
She'll be glad to get back into the Art studios, though could maybe live without the Art History class. . . . Jori's also taking classes toward a business minor to compliment her Textile Design major. Lots of creating and studying. . . . keeps that brain limber;-)
Troy had good news last week when the doctor told him he could go without his 'boot-cast' - yippee! He has to wear a stiff soled shoe pretty much any time he's moving around, but so much better than that bulky contraption *all* the time. His foot is healing well and he is anxious to get out on the lake with his boat. Any ol' lake will do!
Next week finds him away from home. . . you'll have to check out his page next week to find out where he'll be. . . http://www.dsequip/troymap.html
Dogs are good. . . rather bored with the back porch while it's raining, but they do romp in the mud in betweeen showers. Dirty Dogs. And the kitties are just like cats. . . sleep. . . sleep. . . . sleep. . . .
So what's new with you?
