So - what have we been doing? Dealing with more rain - but I'm not going to say any more than that. It's like a broken record; a song you can't get out of your head; a bad habit; an obses
Seriously - we've been doing all those 'gotta enjoy the last of the warm days' kind of things. Been out to the lake a couple times - you should see Javyn get up on that wakeboard! Check it out! Was a little chilly that Sunday morning at Big Hill Lake by Cherryvale, KS - but well worth it, wouldn't you say? Just Troy, Javyn, and I - Javyn was the only one bonding with the wakeboard. . . oh yeah! Looking good!
Troy's been back and forth to Salina a couple times this month for meetings. This past week found him traveling a more southerly area of the USA. . . Texas and New Mexico. He was close enough to the border that he could just about see the Mexico border from his motel rooms. I'll be glad to have him home:-) Waiting for him right now. . . any minute he should walk through that door. . .
Javyn's off to the Homecoming football game - playing in the pep band. We'll go and watch him march at half time. He assures us that they aren't doing anything fancy, which very well may be, but he's in the Official Chanute Comets' Band Uniform - who can miss that??
Jori's home for a few hours (36 - but who's counting?) this weekend. Amazing how wonderful it is to have another girl in the house - and a big sister, to boot. Javyn's enjoying that - whether he'll admit it or not.
Jori helped out with supper and getting Javyn to the stadium on time and now is visiting a friend. She'll be back in time to eat some supper with her Dad. The only real family meal we'll have while she's home will be breakfast. Special time! Ham and eggs, anyone? Banana-nut pancakes, you say? YUM! That can be arranged!
OH! Hubster's been officially out of his boot for awhile - his foot is healing well. Now, just to get him to take it a little easy on it, like the doctor said, is the real challenge!

I've been enjoying my morning walks around Elks Lake with the dogs. Has been foggy the past few mornings and have gotten some great photos. . . with my camera phone, none the less. This is just one of my favorites. Am planning on adding them to my homepage - so be sure to watch for them. May have to take my fancy camera out one morning and see what I can capture!

If you follow me on Facebook you know that we spent last Saturday at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson (about 3 hours to the northwest) and had a GREAT time. Went to the Heart concert - wow! Those women can still rock - amazing! There was quite a crowd there and we thoroughly enjoyed walking through the birds, bunnies, goats. Checked out the butter sculpture and all kinds of exhibits. . . I was especially enthralled with some appliqued and embroidered Victorian style crazy quilts. Have plans to try my hand at a wall hanging sized one. .
We ate some great gyros (along with lots of sweets), sat in some (dry) hot tubs and dreamed a bit. Looked at campers and dream a bit more. Then it was time for the concert in the stadium. Afterwards, we watched a bit of barrel racing then went home. I know I should have taken pics throughout the day. . . but all I have are some pretty lousy ones of the concert. Ah well. The memories will linger even if the photos are absent
The nights are getting cooler - almost cool enough for the furnace - while the days are nearly warm enough for the air conditioner. The humidity fluctuates with the temperature. This is the time of year when it just doesn't matter what we do - we're going to be cold or sweaty
The hummingbirds are still coming around the feeders and the walnut trees have lost nearly all of their leaves. Will be glad when those walnuts finish falling as well. They sure can thud when they hit the side of the house. Every year I'm sure that one will break a window. . .
Unfortunately, our trees are the first ones in the area to drop their leaves in the autumn (I seriously think they drop them in one swoosh on the first day of Autumn every year) and are the last ones to show their foliage come spring. They do provide us with some needed shade in the summer, though. Someday I may have more trees in this yard of ours.
Speaking of, we just closed on the little rental house right behind ours. Our hopes are to keep renting it until we pay the loan off then get rid of the house, put up a garage and move the fence. We'll have a nice square corner lot. Some day. Lots of room for trees then! & for the dogs to romp and run.
On that note - It sounds as though my people are returning. . . Drop me a line - let me know what you've been up to. Always love hearing from you!
